[ARCHIVED] Message from Mayor Onderko 9/21/2021

Good Evening Residents, this is Mayor Richard Onderko. (9/21/2021)

I’m calling tonight to thank you for your perseverance and patience as we make our way through storm recovery efforts together.

As you may know, our borough offices were among the many buildings in town that sustained extensive flood damage. This setback may have initially hindered our responsiveness, but municipal employees are working tirelessly to serve your needs.

I understand the frustrations of navigating the seemingly endless red tape to put your lives back together. My team and I are working closely with FEMA, State, and Federal offices to help you recover as quickly as possible. A town hall meeting will be held soon.

We must complete damage assessments on every house in our flood zones to help determine the financial aid Manville receives. That is happening now, and I'm asking for your cooperation and patience with this critical process.

Regarding property buy-outs or funding to elevate homes, that information will be easier to provide after completing damage assessments and receiving federal aid amounts. These mitigation efforts will help prevent repeated losses and make Manville more storm resilient.

To those in need, there are many resources available in town right now to help guide you through any aspect of your family's recovery. To get help, please visit the FEMA disaster relief center at fire company #3 on North 8th Avenue, visit our Borough’s website and follow us on Facebook to stay informed.

We are Manville Strong, and we’ll get through this together. Thank you all.

Mayor Richard M. Onderko
