Stormwater Management

The Department of Public Works is responsible for and maintains the Storm Water Catch Basin System which is a separate infrastructure from the Sanitary Sewer Collection System.

The Storm Water Catch Basin System collects rainwater and directs it to the waterways through catch basins and outfalls whereas the Sanitary Sewer Collection System directs sewer waste water to the treatment plant.

The Borough’s Storm Water Catch Basins are identified with markers:

Remember, if it goes down there, it will end up in our streams, lakes, and rivers affecting our wildlife and drinking water.

Storm Water Regulations

“Storm water pollution is one of New Jersey’s greatest threats to clean and plentiful water.”

In an attempt to reduce the amount of pollutants that enter our water system annually, the Borough of Manville has adopted several ordinances to prevent and control storm water pollution.
