Snow Plowing Operation & Emergency Plan

To properly snow plow streets from curb to curb, residents are asked to remove all vehicles from the street.

On designated "Emergency Streets", residents are required to remove all vehicles as soon as the snow begins to fall.  Failure to remove a vehicle from an "Emergency Street" will result in a traffic summons and the vehicle being towed in accordance with Borough Ordinance #500.

Snow Emergency Plan - Dependent on the Nature of the Storm

  • Roads are pre-treated or treated as soon as snow begins to accumulate.
  • Plowing operation does not start until an accumulation of 2-3 inches.
  • Main arteries and emergency streets are done first.
  • During the storm , one to two passes are performed on each street.
  • Only when the storm is over are the streets plowed curb to curb.
  • Snow plowing guidelines are dependent upon nature of storm.

When curbing the streets it is unfortunate that snow gets in the end of a cleared driveway. This is unavoidable and it is suggested to residents that cleaning out the end of a driveway be done after streets are fully curbed.

Residents are to refrain from putting snow back into the streets; this is not permissible and creates a safety hazard.
