Michael W. Pitts Jr. is the Chief Finance Officer and Qualified Purchasing Agent for the Borough of Manville. He is also the Chief Finance Officer and Tax Collector of Montgomery Township. He studied business at Monmouth University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting. As an advocate of lifelong learning, he continued his studies and received his MBA in General Administration, Certified Public Accountant License (CPA), Certified Municipal Finance Officer License (CMFO), Certified Tax Collector License (CTC), Qualified Purchasing Agent License (QPA) and Public School Accountant License (PSA). Michael is currently attending Seton Hall University to attain a master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA). Michael is also involved in multiple finance associations. He is president of the Central Jersey Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association and is a committee member for the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
Michael and his talented staff have excelled in cutting costs, creating new streams of revenues, improving efficiencies, creating internal controls, updating policies and procedures and automating the finance department. His goal is to provide the residents with the utmost professional finance department in the most fiscally responsible way.
